Microsoft recently released Office 2016 for current Office 365 subscribers. So how do you actually upgrade? The process itself is very easy, but just knowing how to get there will save you some time.
If you aren’t an Office 365 customer, it is definitely worth checking out with prices starting at just $5 a month. You can find all package pricing and features here.
To start, you have to be logged into Office 365 and at the Office 365 home page as shown below. Once you are there, you need to go to Office 365 settings listed under the gear icon in the top right corner.
Once you are on the "Settings" page, you need to click on "Install and manage software" under the "Software" header. This will take you to the page where you can add Office 2016. Notice that this is the page to make other changes to settings such as your Office 2016 theme and color scheme, notifications, and start page.
Scroll down to the "Try the next version of Office" section and make sure that the correct language is chosen before clicking the "Install button".
The install may take a few minutes. If you have any Microsoft Office programs open, you will need to close them before the installation will finish (make sure you save any documents you have open before quitting!)
And that's it! You should be able to open any Office 2016 program and get back to work! Want to know how Office works as a part of Office 365? Check out our previous blog post on the very subject here!)
