With mainstream support for GP ending December 31, 2029, many report enhancements built in native GP today will have a limited shelf life. At the same time, creating new reports in GP can be cumbersome, especially when requirements extend beyond basic lists and summaries.

It’s bound to happen sooner or later…your check stock is dwindling, and you need to order more. What does that have to do with moving to a new ERP system? Well, it is a minor consideration, but this is a great time to rethink how you print your checks and maybe take a deeper look into ACH transactions before you spend a bunch of money on check stock that you may not need when you switch to Business Central or another ERP option.

Whenever possible, adopt a long-term mindset when considering changes to your current GP processes and systems. Thinking long-term will save you time and, likely, money down the line. If you have to implement a new extension, for example, to bridge the gap in functionality until you upgrade your ERP. A good example of this relates to payroll processing changes, which we’ll cover briefly.

If you are considering adding any of these modules to GP, you should move up your timeline for your switch to Business Central. All of these will incur significant expenses, and it is better to do this in Business Central to avoid duplicating implementation charges and training requirements across two systems instead of just one.
