This year, Community Summit is October 12-15 in Houston, Texas. We’re revving up for our trip! Are you? We’ve already written a blog about how to get the most out Summit, and we hope you add our booth and sessions to your calendar when you sit down to strategize your time. We’ve compiled a complete list of where you can connect with us at Summit—including our booth and sessions—and we’ve also got a little surprise for you. (Yes, it’s a giveaway!)

Visit our booth

This year our booth is 1507, located one row in when entering Hall D from the Grand Concourse (the bottom right of the map below). We invite you to stop by and chat with our knowledgeable and friendly representatives, and while you’re there, feel free to play a little bean bag toss. We have a theme, but we’re going to keep that a secret for now.

Our Sessions

What you need to know before migrating from Dynamics GP to Business Central

Tuesday October 12, 2:00-2:50 PM in room 350C

Presenter: Janelle Riley, CEO

Does the thought of making the transition from GP to Business Central give you the cold sweats? It’s a big project, but if you are prepared, it is a lot easier. Join us for a detailed presentation and in-depth Q&A with people that know the good, the bad, and the ugly of GP to BC migrations.

At this session, you will get answers to these questions:

  • The Dynamics GP – Business Central back story (What was Microsoft thinking?)

  • What features will you lose and what you will gain when you move from GP to BC?

  • Should you use the Microsoft migration tool or implement from scratch?

  • How much does a migration cost?

  • What if you are not quite ready to migrate yet?

Power BI is a fabulous reporting tool for finance professionals, but it can get really complicated, really fast. How do you cut through all of the technical terminology and just use it?  How do you know when you are over your head and need to ask for help from a technical resource?

In this session, you will see Power BI from the perspective of a finance user, including:

  • What Power BI does well (and not so well)

  • How to create a basic report with GP, NAV, or BC data

  • How to publish a report for use by the rest of the finance team

  • How to communicate with your developer

During this session, you will get detailed information of how GP and BC vary:

  • The user experience

  • System design and configuration

  • Vocabulary

  • Data imports and integrations

  • System customizations

  • And much more!
